Bonjour and welcome to your update on everything that’s buzzing in the City of Light. This weekly feature delivers a curated dose of culture, charm, and current events straight from the cobblestone streets and grand boulevards of the French capital.
Whether you’re dreaming from afar or living local, this is your go-to guide for what’s now and what’s next in Paris—from art openings and fashion moments to café chatter and city news. Let’s dive in.
Monday marks 100th year anniversary to the day since Art Deco made its debut at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925. In fact, the name “Art Deco” is derived from Arts Décoratifs. If you love interior design, you’ll enjoy this Elle Decor article on the subject.
Mark your calendars: from October 21, 2025, to February 22, 2026 the Musée des Arts Décoratifs will host a major exhibition—1925–2025: One Hundred Years of Art Deco—showcasing the evolution of Art Deco style through furniture, jewelry, glass, and more. It features masterpieces by designers like Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann and Pierre Chareau.
If you can’t wait that long to celebrate this iconic style trend, stop by the gallery of Anne-Sophie Duval. Anne Sophie specializes in Art Deco and 20th-century Decorative Arts. Her gorgeous gallery has been instrumental in rediscovering and promoting French Art Deco style, showcasing works by masters such as Jean-Michel Frank, Eileen Gray, and Armand-Albert Rateau.
Dine at La Coupole in celebration of the Art Deco movement. Not only does this Parisian institution offer an incredible atmosphere, but it also features some of the best shellfish in Paris.
The coming week includes la Fête du Travail (French Labor Day). Enjoy the city like a local with a small bouquet of lily of the valley for good luck. Paris slows down, offering the perfect chance to enjoy a more relaxed, almost poetic version of the city. Make the most of it with a stroll through a quiet park like Jardin du Luxembourg or linger at a famous café. It’s a perfect time to savor Paris like a flâneur—wandering, watching, and simply being.

Speaking of beauty, why not delve into spring with a new color and cut. From my very first visit to Paris, I’ve booked appointments and allowed the stylist to do as they please. It’s my way of staying current and capturing a bit of French girl je ne sais quoi. Check out this Country & Town House article on Parisian Blonde and this article in Glamour on the same topic. And, for gilded brunettes—like me—check out this inspiring article in Country & Town House.
Spend a night at Catherine Deneuve’s former home. Domaine de Primard was converted into a rustic retreat with immaculate gardens, fragrant rooms, fine dining, and a heated outdoor pool. This stunning residence is part of the Fontenille Collection and only an hour or so outside Paris. I remember when it was on the market and would love to stay here for a night or two, or three…
Travel and Leisure magazine just published a list of 12 hidden gems in Paris, and it’s worth the read.
#ICYMI
Earlier this month, we peeled back the mystery of white asparagus—why it’s prized in French kitchens, how to enjoy it at its peak, and where to find it in Paris this spring. If you’ve ever wondered what makes this pale beauty such a seasonal star, you’ll want to give it a read.
And for a little throwback magic, revisit my May 2009 piece on the merry month of May—a love letter to all the French holidays, long weekends, and the joyful pace of springtime in bloom.
