I absolutely loved my time touring the Alpilles. I absolutely loved my time touring the Alpilles.

At the start of my trip, I had no itinerary and idea where I was going—I simply booked a train ticket to Avignon, rented a car, and boarded the train. Thanks to so many wonderful suggestions from all of you, it turned into a beautiful little adventure.

I hit the road, finding hotels along the way, and moving from town to town, taking in the scenery, discovering local markets, popping into charming boutiques, finding adorable festaurants, and soaking up the slower pace of Provençal life.

Here are the five towns I visited—and what made each one special.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence — known for its artistic soul and connection to Vincent van Gogh, who spent a year here and found inspiration in the landscapes of the Alpilles.

Eygalières — known for its beautifully preserved Provençal character, from its old village and stone houses to its fountains, washhouses, and Friday market.

Mouriès — known for its ancient olive groves and exceptional olive oil—and a wonderful place to taste the region’s golden elixir.

Les Baux-de-Provence — known for its majestic views, this medieval village and castle offer sweeping panoramas across the Provençal countryside.

Fontvieille — known for its connection to writer Alphonse Daudet and the famous Moulin de Daudet, which evokes the landscapes and traditions of the Provence he so lovingly described.

Five towns, five different experiences—and each one better than the next and well worth visiting.

I will share more in a future blog post. In the meantime, which little town would you visit first?

Do you agree?

Have you visited the town of Eygalières? Apparen Have you visited the town of Eygalières?

Apparently, this town takes its traditions seriously—and I love that! ♥️ Bravo!

Upon arrival I was struck by the banners at the main intersection, which read “Maintenons nos traditions” in French and “Nosto Culturo Prouvençalo, Nosto Identita Eigalièrenco” in Provençal (specifically Mistralian). In English: Maintain our traditions, our provençal culture, our Eygalieres identity.

As someone who has written about French culture and traditions for nearly 20 years, and who has watched France evolve over the past 40 years, I am truly delighted to discover such an beautiful village that honors its roots.

After many years of sharing my love of France here and on my blog, I’ve been working quietly behind the scenes on a fresh new look.

The things I’ve always loved sharing with you— beautiful places, everyday rituals, travel, culture, food, flowers, and the little details that make life feel more special— are coming together in a new way.

More soon.

The Foire internationale d’antiquités et de brocante de L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is taking place. 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of this fun event.

This semi-annual event features more than 100 dealers and brocanteurs from France, Belgium, and Italy, and it draws over 100,000 visitors across the four or five days of each edition.

If you love antiquing, mark your calendars!

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a great da Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a great day.

For today’s post, I’m sharing pics of the little stone church at the top of Les Baux-de-Provence. It’s called Église Saint-Vincent, and it dates back to the 12th-century. It’’s architecture is very Romanesque and actually reminds me of my childhood church—Infant Jesus of Prague, which is similarly styled.

This church, however, has stained glass windows gifted by Prince Rainier III of Monaco in recognition of the long-standing historical and sentimental ties between the Grimaldi family and Les Baux-de-Provence.

Interesting, n’est pas?

I pick up all these little facts during my travels and, unfortunately, I forget most of them in subsequent years. Life gets busy, and I refocus on home, family and work.

Does anyone else struggle with that phenomenal?
