Did you know the Luxembourg Garden was modeled after the Boboli Garden in Florence?
Italian style became prevalent in Paris during Marie de Medici’s reign. The magnificent Medici Fountain is just one of many examples of that influence. Tucked away in the northeast corner of the garden, the fountain features the Medici family crest emblazoned at the top center. It is flanked by rich foliage and nymphs pouring water from pitchers. Not only is the fountain beautiful, but seating around the grotto is a serene and shady spot to relax – perfect for taking in a good book or a delicious cup of gelato from the nearby refreshment kiosk.
