Welcome to The Paris Postcard, your curated guide to what’s happening in the City of Light. Each weekly edition highlights some of the best upcoming events, cultural happenings, and insider tips to help you make the most of your travels or experience Paris like a local. Whether you’re here for a weekend or a lifetime, there’s always something new to discover.
From May 8–11, the Grand Palais is hosting a gastronomic feast, reuniting countless famous French and international chefs under one roof. It’s the perfect opportunity to sample dishes from some of the most renowned restaurants in Paris.
From May 12–19, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Jazz Festival takes place in this famous left bank neighborhood with concerts and events in historic cafés and theaters across le quartier. Saint-Germain-des-Prés is known as the homeland of Jazz in France, some of the venues are absolutely fabulous, and you’ll definitely want to take part in this annual event.
May 16 marks Saint-Honoré Day, a celebration in honor of the patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs in France. It’s the perfect excuse to indulge in the delicate Saint-Honoré cake—a classic dessert layered with cream puffs, caramel, and puff pastry. Whether you’re strolling past boulangeries or savoring a slice in a café, it’s a sweet tribute to French culinary tradition.
The thrill of the turf is back—racing season is in full swing! Whether it’s the elegance of Chantilly, the drama of Auteuil, or the glamour of Longchamp, each track promises a day packed with fast-paced action and high-style pageantry. Check the calendar, pick your venue, and get ready to cheer from the rails! You’ll find all the details here: France Gallop.
La Nuit Européenne des Musées (European Museum Night) returns on Saturday, May 17, with museums across Paris offering free evening entry and special events from 6pm to midnight. While this can be a fun night out, I’ve tried it twice—the lines are long.

Last week’s post featured one of my favorite flowers and how to make them last. In case you missed it, here’s the link: Maximize Your Cut Peonies.
For a bit of nostalgia, check out another fun Paris night out experience from 2009, Art After Dark: Nocturne Rive Droite. The throwback to cage kitten heels alone makes this post worth a peek. 🙂
