Spring has officially arrived in Paris, and the city is blooming with charm, color, and a sense of quiet renewal. With Easter Sunday and a public holiday on Monday, this long weekend invites a slower rhythm—one of shared meals with family and friends and, for many, a morning spent at mass in one of Paris’s stunning churches. Whether you’re marking the holiday with tradition or simply savoring the season’s gentle beauty, The Paris Postcard is here to help you make the most of it. Let’s see what Paris has in store—allons-y?
Attending Easter mass is extra special on Easter Sunday—all are welcome. Paris is filled with extraordinarily beautiful basilicas, cathedrals, and churches, providing plenty of opportunity to celebrate the culmination of Holy Week. Some great options include:
- Notre Dame de Paris at 11:30 a.m.
- Eglise Saint Sulpice at 11:00 a.m.
- Basilica Sacré Coeur at 11:00 a.m.
Depending on which venue you choose for mass, I also suggest a delicious Easter brunch following mass. Paris, je t’aime curated a list of excellent options.
If you’re traveling with children, consider the Easter egg hunt (Grande chasse aux œufs) in Renoir’s Garden at the Musée de Montmartre on April 20 and 21.
For more information on Easter in Paris check out my Easter traditions post from years ago.
Visit the Musée de Cluny for insight into how Christianity shaped medieval France and European art.
Or, visit the Archeological Crypte beneath the square in front of Notre-Dame, which includes ruins of early churches and Roman buildings.
Spend Easter weekend out of town – like so many Parisians. Dubbed the Soho Farmhouse of Paris, the sprawling Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay—about an hour outside Paris—is now home to a range of glamorous bedrooms and suites as well as several restaurants and bars. The Standard has a great review of this beautiful venue, and I can vouch for it personally, as I attended an incredible wedding there a few years ago.
