The highlight of the Nocturne Rive Droite was the Vernissage of the McDermott & McGough exposition Without You I Am Nothing at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont.
This was, by far, the most eccentric crowd, including the artists themselves. David McDermott and Peter McGough are two Americans who met at Syracuse University in the 1970’s. They have immersed themselves into the Victorian era, which is reflected in how they live and dress.
I have to say, these two artists couldn’t be nicer. I addressed Peter in French, to which he respond, “Darling, I have no idea what you just said.” We chatted a bit and I was on my way.
My “take” on the contemporary art in ALL the galleries…the digital age is having a profound influence on painting. This trend is quite obvious in the work of McDermott & McGough, but evident in other artist’s work as well.
