The Paris Blowout Ritual

Have you ever noticed how many beauty salons there are in Paris? It truly feels like there’s one on every corner—and now I understand why.
While living in Paris, I quickly adopted the beloved ritual of the weekly brushing: a simple shampoo and blow-dry that delivers effortlessly polished hair for days. Armed with a round brush and a powerful 2100-watt dryer, French stylists have perfected the art of the long-lasting blowout. One good brushing can last four to five days, depending on the weather, your hair type, and your routine.
At franchise salons like Jean-Claude Biguine and Jacques Dessange, prices typically range from €25 to €35, with a small extra fee for conditioner. No appointment is needed—walk-ins are always welcome—which makes it easy to fit into everyday life.
Before long, it became part of my weekend rhythm. Along with other women in the neighborhood, I would queue up in front of the salon door on Saturday mornings, waiting for it to open. What started as an occasional treat quickly became a cherished weekly ritual—my own small, stylish way of embracing Parisian beauty and self-care.
Honestly, there’s nothing quite like strutting through Paris with a fresh blowout, feeling ready to conquer the week!
