Your weekly Paris Postcard has arrived, bringing you the city’s latest delights and hidden corners—always wrapped in Parisian style. It might be cold outside, but Paris continues to warm our hearts, and this week is no exception.
In the past few years, several of the city’s museums have undergone beautiful restorations—including the Jacquemart-André, the Hôtel de la Marine, and the Musée de la Vie Romantique—all featured in this week’s postcard. Each offers fresh and inviting ways to experience Paris’s art, history, and elegance.
Freshly restored and more vibrant than ever, the Jacquemart-André is quickly becoming one of Paris’s most exciting cultural destinations. Beginning February 27, the museum opens its doors for enchanting candlelight visits. As soft flames illuminate gilded salons and masterworks, the mansion feels less like a museum and more like a living home from another century. It’s one of the most atmospheric ways to experience art in Paris—and a personal favorite for winter evenings.
In addition, Opéra a Palazzo brings opera into these same salons, with Rigoletto and La Traviata unfolding just steps from the audience, surrounded by art and candlelight. It’s opera as it once was—intimate, emotional, and deeply immersive. February also celebrates the excellence of opera and ballet across Paris’s most prestigious venues, including the Opéra Bastille and Palais Garnier, making this an especially rich time for lovers of the performing arts.
At the beautifully restored Hôtel de la Marine, the Dynastic Jewels exhibition showcases exceptional pieces once worn by Europe’s great ruling families. Set within lavish state apartments overlooking Place de la Concorde, this exhibition feels like stepping inside a royal jewel box. Here, craftsmanship, power, and beauty converge, offering a glimpse into Europe’s storied past.
The Musée de la Vie Romantique has just reopened after an extensive 17-month renovation, inviting visitors to rediscover one of Paris’s most enchanting cultural gems. Once a gathering place for some of the 19th century’s brightest artists and thinkers, the museum now showcases the works of Ary Scheffer alongside a new exhibition exploring the skies of Paul Huet. With its intimate atmosphere and timeless charm, it’s a chance to step back into the world of Romantic Paris and savor its beauty at a slower pace.

Earlier in the week, I shared my recipe for Tartiflette, a savory dish from the Savoie region of France. Check out Bringing the French Alps Home: Classic Tartiflette and bring warmth to your own table.
For a bit of nostalgia, here is a very fun post from August 2009 about my stay at the Foyer International des Étudiantes. What I love about this post most is the number of young women who have reached out to me to learn more the Foyer in advance of their own semester abroad—it’s a reminder of how Paris leaves its mark on all of us.
Bon weekend!
xoxo, Jeannine
