The Paris Postcard: A Weekly Roundup of the Latest Happenings in the City of Light

le 8 Mars 2025
Hello there! Another week, another round of exciting events in the City of Light. Whether you’re gearing up for a trip or just dreaming from home, we’ve got the latest happenings, secret spots, and all the Parisian energy you need to make your weekend shine.
Let’s jump into the magic of Paris—ready to explore?
The Foire de Chatou takes this week. It opened yesterday, March 7, and runs through March 16. This semi-annual event is held at l’Île des Impressionnistes, an island on the Seine in the western suburbs of Paris. If you love antiquing, you’ll love the Foire de Chatou!
If high-brow antiquing is more your style, you’ll want to head out of Paris to TEFAF Maastricht, which opens March 15 and runs through March 20. TEFAF Maastricht is one of the most prestigious international art fair , showcasing exceptional artworks, antiques, and design pieces from around the world, attracting collectors, dealers, and art enthusiasts.
On March 9, the annual Carnaval de Paris takes place. The vibrant parade runs from Place Gambetta to Place de la République. Participants and spectators alike can enjoy music, dancing, and elaborate costumes, embracing the festive spirit of the city
I’m delighted to share The fashionable guide to Paris: Haute hotels, restaurants and exhibits from The New York Post.
Likewise, Condé Nast Traveler has curated a list of the most luxury hotel in Paris: 31 Luxury Hotels in Paris to Bookmark for Your Next Trip
Incredibly, a WWII bomb weighing more than 1,000 pounds was found about a mile from Gare du Nord in Paris, wreaking havoc on travel between London and Paris.
We’re closing this week’s Paris Postcard with an article on the legacy of my favorite Paris chocolatier, Debauve et Gallais, which features the very same box of pastilles that I purchased in January.
xoxo, Jeannine
